With this second release, the label continues its VA series, here expanding the Broken District territory to a wider sound spectrum by diving into Deep House sounds, as well as Nu Disco, and Instrumental Hip Hop. The EP opens with Jus Jam & Momla, joining forces on “Pumpkin”, a dynamic House production inspired by the messy, smoky Jazz club atmosphere of the 30s, and featuring a live-recorded bassline as well as dirty samples of saxophone. You can smell the bayou on this one. For the second track, Momla goes solo with “Huckleberry Dream”, a beautiful Deep House journey with a melancholic vibe and Soulful influences. As per our first release, Marian Tone gives the final touch on the A-side, this time in collaboration with Duktus. Together they deliver a loose, funky Hip Hop ballad featuring a live-recorded saxophone that provides a nice jazzy vibe. On the flipside, Jus Jam opens with “Naked Lunch”, a ‘Slow House’ track again influenced by the 90s Hip Hop scene… the kind of music to be enjoyed while driving on the Pacific coast during a hot Summer night. Roller-disco time with “On The Mend” by Vienna-based artist Sam Irl. Here he provides us with a beautiful ode to the Filtered House era… with subtle Funk influences. London artist System Olympia provides the perfect conclusion to this second EP with “Do You Need Anybody”, a melancholic journey influenced by early Electronic sounds from the 80s. Welcome back to the Broken District.
For his debut album, Tochigi Canopy has been building the melancholic, spleen-full life's perfect soundtrack. At first listen, we already feel his obsession for details and his love for deep atmospheres, he fills our mind with images, moments, slices of nostalgia where summers last only for seconds. An absolut must-have.
SUB/014 comes from one of Voigtmann's English wunderkinds - JAMIE LEATHER. Jamie has a wonderful way of weaving melodies into his creations creating sophisticated yet club ready tracks that have been tried by Claus and tested at many occasions during his tours. 'A1 - Universal Space Ride' delivers a monster, a driving club cut that meanders within light and darkness and will get bodies moving on the floor. 'A2 - Tokyo Crossing' comes in hot with references to Japanese quirkiness, big drums, big bassline and a wonderful atmosphere throughout the cut. 'B1 - Hausa Boogie' is a deeper meditative track that floats along with the special 'Jamie Leather classiness'. 'B2 - Control' is the icing on the cake and delivers a wonderful, floaty downtempo track. A special EP.
Breakfree Records are honoured to welcome Naarm's new wunderkind, Reflex Blue for their second record of punchy progressive / tech house.
Terrazzo is a new VA label formed by Northern Irish selector Holly Lester (Duality Trax) and proli􀀁c labelentrepreneur/producer Steffan Todorović (Gestalt Records/Coymix/Hidden Assets/Abdul Raeva). The label’s debut EP journeys through a variety of club sounds with Dylan Forbes, Eric OS, Anderson and underground heavyweight Harrison BDP rolling out 4 cuts of euphoria-inducing prog, broken beat-infused tech, heady minimal and contemporary Detroit techno.
EYA Records continue to bring up some of the most inventive and forward-thinking Techno and Electro jams, this time welcoming back Berlin-based live performer and producer Otis.Danger At The Tendo Dojo EP is flawless, trippy and explorative. A unique journey into the artist's mind through the rhythms and sounds of analog machines and synthesizers.
