R.I.O. welcomes Pieter Kock aka DJ Peacock, one of the guiding souls behind the Berlin based bar/micro club O Tannenbaum. Musically active since 1986 as singer, guitarist, drummer and noisemaker, Peter already released a string of albums under different aliases like Billie and Ballie, The Hitmachine and Taladu. Since the early 1990s he narrates haunting sonic stories as a DJ, playing a vast palette of styles - from cosmic and leftfield techno to tape experiments, sound-art, wave, world, jazz, punk, industrial, and all that weird pop music. Last year saw him liberating his first solo recordings under his civil name as a cassette tape named “Flocks & Murders of Entitled Spirits”, dropped by the Berlin/Vilnius based label Musikii. It unreels twelve sensitive tunes, made with the help of online synths and drum computers, Youtube travel- and talk show-videos or samples from Youtube synths- and rhythm box-demonstration videos. Now he refined his idiosyncratic style of music crafting a bit deeper and shares “Facial Recognition” – a gently twisted album that unites hypnagogic pop, library dances, cosmic funk, leftfield grooves and experimental sonic zones under one roof. His seven found sound tunes are layering a rhizomatic veil of unidentifiable web sounds, all transmuted into hazy looped ambiances, that trigger unconscious brain activities with future samples from the past, woven rhythm structures and a simultaneity of moments, derived from myriad world wide web informations. When it’s true, that nothing can have value without being an object of utility, then Pieter Kock managed to give the internet a new rate while using its manyfold informations as a tool to create art. Art, whose originality isn’t defined by the creator’s playful virtuosity. Instead, his sensibility of deciphering unheard rhythms, harmonies, and melodies in an avalanche of prefabricated ideas is his mastery. Pieter Kock transformed them into unfamiliar compositions with a familiar touch, that can evoke the feeling of being synchronous in a world of the many. A data rain without drops, a stream of consciousness without cognizance. Come in, drop out.

The Tears of Joy label boss returns with an encompassing tribute to the power of the dancefloor. As a member of Pacific Horizons and under a host of other aliases, the Los Angeles-based producer has explored the breadth of dance music - from Mancuso-inspired loft house to bassbin rumblers that nod to his familial relationship with the U.K. - but his most personal statements have been reserved for the Live For Each Moon moniker.As a result of this, and also by nature of its journey/trip sequencing, 'A Vision of Dance' reaches for a comprehensive sound, honed over decades of observation and participation. The producer's varied interests shine through, and they are pushed beyond genre experiment into new, hybridized shapes - sinewy, searching, warehouse techno shares space with crunchy, heaving breakbeat cut-ups and churning, slow motion chugs. While the overall pace leans toward the trancelike whirlwind, a few atmospheric, introspective interludes are cut in as kind of existential breathers - nods to LFEM's back catalog of haunted ambience as much as ravers' respites.

As luck would have it, this seventh exclusive Deep Site Vinylized edition sees the pure class of Tojami Sessions (Dessous Recordings/Plastic City) with two stand out original tracks each offering remixes that contrast and compliment the full atmosphere of this release.Falling (Original Mix) takes you on a late afternoon cruise filled with soft seductive whispers and a surprise percussion during the break.Falling (Manuel Sahagun Remix) adds more of a jazzy element, focus on inspiring words, and the laid back improvisation keep the groove flowing non-stop.Falling (Kessidis Remix) takes on a more mystical and minimal approach amidst modulating synths and the spoken words declaring what is to unfold.What Is Love (Original Mix) The extended intro and groovy bassline start this track off, bathing you in sunlight while the vocal samples splash over and refresh you creating a radiant joy.What Is Love (Deep Spelle Remix) layers some harder beats and an 808 bassline producing that contagious dancing feeling impossible to resist.What Is Love (Funtom Remix) sends the track to high emotional levels with use of melody and dynamics making it a true anthem bound to leave its touch.

Leon Revol opens the record with “And If Forget”, a jazzy, downtempo ballad here offering a perfect introduction to the EP. Having previously released music for Church and Beats Of No Nation, Leon Revol brilliantly lands his first production on the BKD soil. Sydney-based artist Setwun is up next with “Lonnie”, a true journey into the mind of this multi-instrumentalist producer. The title opens up with glimmering melodies and kicks off strong with a lead bassline backed by a broken beat… all wrapped up with the beautiful keyboard performance from Daniel 'Planeface' Pliner. As a close friend of the 30/70 collective, Setwun here shows another side of the Australian jazz-influenced electronic scene. Closing the A-side, the Leipzig artist Duktus returns to the Broken District imprint with “Deep Downstairs”, a live-recorded nu-jazz session with the ODC Live Band. The band is named after the OverDubClub jam sessions and beat-making event series, which took place between 2012 and 2016 at the Distillery club in Leipzig. After a VA release on the O*RS label gathering productions from all artists involved in the ODC sessions, this one song is the last and only song left from this time period… and it’s quite an honor to welcome it on Broken District. Flip the record, press play: Italian talent Turbojazz opens the B-side, delivering his jazz-infused house music on “Pianodubrazil”. The prominent South-American influences bring even more sunshine to the EP and the live performance from Veezo on the keyboards has clearly something to do with it. Together with Parker Madicine, Turbojazz and Veezo have recently made a strong impression with their mutual project Jaxx Madicine… and magic happens again on this new track. Following-up is Jus Jam, one of Broken District’s co-founders. Through his new track “Memories Live”, he grants us again with an atmospheric house cut brought by mellow synth pads and a warm live-recorded bassline. It’s hip hop, it’s jazzy, it’s house music with a unique twist, it’s a true journey for the dreamers… as always.
