AGT Records is onto release 007 and it’s a certified killer. In the early 2000’s KAELO and DJ Jet AKA Kaelo Gallagher and Jesse Goldfarb combined to create JK47. They produced and pressed their records out of their own pocket with no distribution, handing them to local record shops in and around Toronto. When the shops eventually closed the records found their way out into the world, leading us to today. The Plastic Aviator EP was a passion project of the duo in 2005. Its influences stretch beyond any one era or genre and you really do get a taste of everything here. The balearic feel of the original mix (shoutout to Queen of the Worms on the guitar) is nicely balanced with the dub inflected UKG attitudes of the Scene Heads and Loopity Goofs Mix, while the previously unreleased Hernan Gutmer mix brings the EP to a deep and head-spinning close. This is a record to be packed and played throughout the night and day, and we’re happy to have the chance to get it back onto turntables - all in good time.
'The 12 Moons of Ikutaro', originally slated for release in 1993 tells the story of Shioi, a young girl who embarks on an intergalactic journey to avenge the death of her father. Her journey takes her to the solar system of Ikutaro, where she must visit each moon to defeat the 'Moon Boss', and ultimately destroy the 'System Controller'. Aided by her 'Liquid Sound Device' she undertakes the task journeying between the moons on her 'Model JP8080' and meets various friends and foes on the way.
Toronto based Emissive brings his inimitable sound to Aronia Records with a new four track EP. Unseen Measures is a collection of music distinct in tempo and timbre but unified by an emotive quality that is characteristic of Emissive’s productions. Oxygen Contact sets the pace with undulating synth swirls and metallic clangs backed by a steady rhythmic pulse. Grannr carries the vibe with a distorted and compressed drum pattern, flowering into a cathartic chord progression. The mood swells with Uplink’s shimmering synths and twinkling melodies bursting with peak time energy. This euphoria tapers off to a sensual comedown in the form of an eleven minute meditation on the dance floor, closing off the record with a Resounding Yes of hypnotic loops and rhythms.
Are you Looking for Love? Advice? Good Luck? Then you’ve come to the right place. Peach gets closer to fully realising her sound with this debut on her new label. Born out of a tarot card reading in New York City, Psychic Readings is a space for all her truest forthcoming experiments. On one side, Peach brings us Eclipse - a playful, punchy & positive ode to special moments. Synths shimmer between whimsical whirls of acid, and the bassline bounces us around in a state of bliss. The other side boasts a mood only Miss Cooky herself could be responsible for. The percussion is stripped back but that doesn’t mean it don’t slap! Sinking subs flirt with modular stabs for a simple yet sassy groove. Both sides are a testament to her sonic explorations through her years as a DJ. They are a bouncy ballad to Ms Cookys Psychic Readings.Call for your free reading now +442081572195
Now in its tenth year, Frankfurt-based record label Die Orakel has earned itself a strong catalogue of classy releases in a distinct sonic and visual attitude, its latest being a compilation called Braindance.
Traveling from dancefloor-geared groovers to space-ready euphoria, space•lab’s fifth EP lands with four otherworldly tracks. Kicking things off, we have the swirling atmospheres, trippy vocal samples, and broken grooves of Dylan Forbes’s ‘Resoblaster’. This is followed up by Mariiin’s ‘Restless Mind’, which journeys to the tonally darker reaches of classic prog-trance, with its spun-out synth melody and deep, driving bassline. Next up, Rambal Cochet, the artist behind space•lab’s fourth EP, makes a return with the spacious, hypnotic wormholer, ‘Mushroom Hill Zone’. Rounding things off, punchy kick drums combine with zero-gravity atmospheres for KAWAII SAN’s drifting-through-cyberspace groover, ‘Nuclear’.
